2002-07-31 - 8:13 a.m. Can’t sleep again. Story of my life. Bzzzzzzz... It’s like what Ed Norton says in fight club, you’re not asleep and you’re not awake. I did some gambling on this time off. My first trip to Vegas. Yee ha, it was fun. I was up, then down. I threw a hundred bucks away on roullette. Craps is my game. So, I left Vegas about 80 bucks down. Then I went on a gambling boat that leaves from Port Aransas and sails into international waters. I dropped about $120 in ten minutes on the crapps table but half an hour later I was up. An hour after that I walked away from the table to take a piss, I had just lost about a hundred bucks on one throw but I was still $270 on top. I went back and dropped down to a hundred up before I quit (while I was ahead this time). It’s an amazing feeling to gamble money that you don’t have to waste. Now, don’t start sending me pamphlets just yet. I like a good poker game now and then and I’ve had some luck in Harra’s in New Orleans but I won’t be missing any gigs to pull a one armed bandit. Who was the guy from Welcome Back Kotter? Kaplan. He left acting to gamble professionally. There’s a ballsy jump. Favorite films with gambling in them: Cool Hand Luke House Of Games Sranger Than Paradise Down By Law (I screama, you screama...) Animal House (You guys playing cards?) The Hustler The Sting Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid Goldfinger I’m hovering on The Cincinatti Kid, I need to see it again. I didn’t buy Rounders but I dug Malcovich’s russian accent. I’m sure there are more. Gambling’s fun but I’d rather dance nude in public like Anastasia.
